The vastest monolithic church of Europe

Do not miss this major visit offering an immersion of about 1 hour in the heart of the limestone for an exclusive discovery of the underground heritage of Saint-Émilion!

From the history of the founding monk of the village, to the digging of the surprising monolithic church, the visit will enable you to discover 4 monuments : the hermitage of Émilion, the Trinity Chapel and its medieval paintings, the catacombs as well as the underground church.

YOU WILL LOVE IT

  • The doors of these monuments will open only with a guide.
  • Émilion’s cave conceals a fertility chair, well-known for its efficiency!
  • A written translation is available in several languages (German, English, Chinese, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Rumanian, Russian and Ukrainian) on simple request at the Tourist Office before the beginning of the visit.

PRACTICAL

  • The tour starts at the Place de l'Eglise Monolithe at the time indicated on your ticket.
  • Photography is not permitted during the visit of the underground monuments. Thank you for your understanding.

DON'T BE LATE!

To avoid the stress of arriving at the last minute, plan to arrive early so as not to be late for your visit. Indeed, finding a parking space can sometimes take a little time in Saint-Émilion.

And once the visit has begun: you will not be able to join the group in the underground monuments and will not be reimbursed.

Please note: access to the bell tower is not included in the purchase of your "Saint-Emilion underground"guided tour . Please contact our teams at the Tourist Office reception desk and pay €2/person for access.
