Château Ferrand is an iconic property proudly owned by the Gasparoux family since 1934 and located in Pomerol. Fernand Gasparoux, originally from Davignac, Corrèze (Central France), was once a travelling merchant just like his father and in 1934 decided made the decision to purchase vines in the magnificent appellation of Pomerol to fulfill his dream of becoming a winegrower.
Over the years, the property has been handed down through generations and each have successfully expanded the property’s size as well as its reputation. In 1975, the family decided to diversify its range, introducing Château Haut-Ferrand through the purchase of a few hectares of vines on the Pomerol plateau. In constant search for development, the Gasparoux family in 2009 created a prestige cuvée: La Fleur Ferrand. Made from a selection of the best vines of the vineyard, it is only produced in small quantities and is the true representation of the family’s passion and generosity.
Today, 3 generations work together, combining tradition and innovation to preserve the Gasparoux family’s history in Pomerol.
The 15.5 hectares of Château Ferrand and Château Haut-Ferrand are located on sandy and gravel based soils with iron oxide in the under layers, producing elegant and harmonious wines with great aging potential.
Since 2019, the vineyard has been certified HVE3 (High Environmental Value) and ISO 14001 as part of the Bordeaux Wine Environmental Management System. Efforts have been made even further today whereby since summer 2021 the property has started its organic certification.
In 2019 the Gasparoux family also carried out major work on the reception buildings of the property. It is now possible to visit the facilities, taste the wines as well as host business seminars and family events!
