In September, usually on the third Sunday of the month, the Ban des Vendanges (harvest ban) took place in Saint-Émilion, marking the start of the harvest period.
The goal has always been to ensure quality, and in the past, experts were sent to the vineyards to make sure that the grapes were perfectly ripe. The Jurade could then proclaim the opening of the ban.
Today, this ceremony is a link between the past and the future and an opportunity to celebrate the vintage.
Ban des Vendanges:
- 10:00 a.m.: Jurade Mass
- 11:30 a.m.: Induction ceremony (private)
- 5:00 p.m.: Jurade procession through the village to the Tour du Roy and proclamation of the Ban des Vendanges
