The accessibility

How to come to Saint-Emilion?

All the roads lead to Saint-Emilion! You can come by train, by car or by bus (depending on the time of the year). Discover all the possibilities by clicking here.

Is there a shuttle between the train station and the village?

The 1.5km trip can be made in approximately 20 minutes on foot.
There are also an other option:

  • Tuk-Tuk des Cordeliers: on 06 40 83 62 60 for a transfer. The cost is €5 per person.

Can I reach the village with my vehicle?

Yes! Only the vehicles of a width superior to 2 meters and a weight superior to 6 tons (PTAC) cannot run in the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, but car parks at the edge of the village are available.

Are the village/the monuments accessible with a stroller?

Saint Emilion is a medieval city composed of steep and cobbled streets. A baby carrier can provide you more comfort during your visit. Otherwise, you can download here our plan of the village where streets are colored to spot easily the most accessible streets.

Are there luggage storages available on the train station or on the Tourist office?

No luggage storage is available in the village.



Park in Saint Emilion

Where can I park? Are car parks paying? Is there a free car park ?

You can park your vehicle on the free car parks located around the village (car park of the Espace Guadet behind the gendarmerie or car park of the train station) or paying car parks (2€ an hour, maximum 5 hours) located in the village.

Watch out! Car parks are limited. On busy days, it is necessary to plan for extra time to park and join the center.

Where are car parks reserved for tourism buses?

  • Villemaurine car park: located near the Place Bourgeoise, approaching from the departmental road 243. €20 per vehicle per day, every day (Sundays and public holidays included) for up to 9 hours' parking and €50 for 10 hours. 10 hours being the maximum authorised. 18 spaces available.


  • Station car park: located 1.5 km south of the village, arriving via the D670.

Is there a car park for campers?

A part of the car park of the Espace Guadet (free, behind the gendarmerie) is accessible to campers. You can remain to park there at night, however, it is not a reception area.

How to visit a château?

How to visit the monolithic church? Can we visit it by ourselves? What time are the visits?

The monolithic church can be visited only with a guide. Several visits allow you to discover it.

Is it necessary to book the visits in advance? If yes, how we can reserve?

It is possible and strongly advised to book the visits in advance as the number of places per visit is limited. You can buy your tickets on our on-line reservation website, or from the ticket office of the tourist office (subject to availability on your arrival).


Are animals accepted in guided tours?

Animals, on a lead, are accepted during guided tours, except for the visit of the Cordeliers Cloister (free and guided tours).


Can we rent bikes in Saint-Emilion?

Bikes can be hired from private hire companies such as Véloce and Lovelec33.

The practical information

What are the opening hours of the tourist office?

The tourist office is opened every day of the year (including on Sundays) except on December 25th and Mondays from December till January. Schedules are variable according to the periods. To know day schedules, click here.

When and where takes place Saint Emilion's market?

Saint-Emilion's weekly market is held on Wednesdays, in high season only, in the Parc Guadet.


Where are the public toilets ?

There is a toilet block on the Espace Villemaurine (free) and an other one on the Place Bouqueyre (paying) and near the wash houses (50 cents). Find them on the village map by clicking here.

How to visit the village comfortably?

Comfortable shoes and without heel are advised to enjoy nicely the cobbled and sometimes steep streets.
A jacket will be welcome if you plan to visit cellars or subterranean monuments, where the temperature rarely exceeds 13 °!

Is it possible to get free WiFi in the village?

A free WiFi access is available in the tourist office as well as the Maison du Vin of Saint-Emilion.
