Château Guadet, Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is located in the centre of the village of Saint-Émilion, in front of the Marcadieu place. The winery is situated in the GUADET street, named after Marguerite Elie Guadet, the leader of the Girondin fraction who was guillotined in 1794 previous owner of the estate.
Since 1844 the winery is the property of the Lignac family. Today Vincent LIGNAC is the 7th generation in charge of the winery.
With his dad Guy-Pétrus Lignac, little nephew of Marie-Louise Loubat, the founder of Château Petrus, also known as « The Great Lady of Pomerol »; they open their doors and offers guide tours all year around.
During the wine tour, they will reveal to you they know-how of winemaking and ageing of the fine wines. You will visit the vat room with its hydraulic press from 1924 and the wine storeroom where you’ll find the oak barrels, foudres and amphora. You will go down to the medieval monolith cellar full of memories of different ages: a real travel throughout history.
They started working organic in 2008 and we moved to biodynamics in 2011. Therefore, during your visit we’ll share our environmental values with you: profound respect for Nature, preservation of biodiversity, zero inputs.
The visit is followed by an unforgettable tasting of 2 organic / biodynamic wine, signature of our Château and our terroir: pure, aromatic, alive. Wines with a long ageing potential.
