In September, usually on the 3rd Sunday of the month, the Ban des Vendanges is held in Saint-Émilion to launch the harvest period.
The aim has always been to improve quality, and experts sent out to the vineyards were once responsible for ensuring that the grapes were perfectly ripe. The Jurade could then proclaim the opening of the ban.
Today, this ceremony is a link between the past and the future and an opportunity to celebrate the harvested vintage.
