The stages

1

Step 1

Go past the Maison des Vins and the south portal of the collegiate church and turn left to follow the ramparts and the Mallet dwelling (on your left) as far as the Ch. Canon gate. Get off your bike and take the road in the wrong direction. Follow the low wall.

2

Step 2

Go past the Maison des Vins and the south portal of the collegiate church and turn left to follow the ramparts and the Mallet dwelling (on your left) as far as the Ch. Canon gate. Get off your bike and take the road in the wrong direction. Follow the low wall.

3

Step 3

At the crow's feet on Ch. Canon, turn right towards Ch. Beau-Séjour Bécot (signposted ‘cimetière’).

4

Step 4

Leave the church of St-Martin on your left and continue straight on, following the signs for the ‘Boucle de Mazérat’ (hiking trail). Walk past the reception area of the Ch. Beau-Séjour Bécot and immediately turn right, before the car park, to take the small path on the left through the vines. Stay on the path until you reach a small grove (ideal spot for a picnic).

5

Step 5

The trees are on your left, go along them to reach the end of the path and the small road (which leads to Ch. Coutet). Turn right and then immediately left. Follow the signs for the remarkable viewpoint at 450 m.

6

Step 6

Take the 1st path on the right between the plots (signposted Grand Mayne). Follow the Gallo-Roman furrows to the right.

7

Step 7

Go around the copse to the right (following the green markers) to pick up the narrow path that descends to the left. Continue down this path until you reach Ch. Franc Pourret and the D243 road.

8

Step 8

Cross the D243 towards Ch. Ambe Tour Pourret and continue on this road until the next crossroads (at the Ch. Côte de Baleau vineyards). Go past Ch. Vieux Pourret.

9

Step 9

At the intersection with Ch. Côte de Baleau, turn :
- EITHER right to shorten the circuit and go to point 13 (go as far as Ch. Fonroque)
- OR to the left to continue the route.

10

Step 10

Follow the track to the left and you will see Ch. Côte Baleau on your right. At the corner of the 1st plot, turn right and continue straight ahead, following the green signposts. Cross the stream, then continue straight on until you reach the road.

11

Step 11

At the intersection, turn right and continue straight on until you reach the next intersection, where you turn right again. Drive past the Ch. Fougueyrat.

12

Step 12

Continue as far as Ch. Laniote (on your right) and Ch. Fonroque.

13

Step 13

Enter the Ch. Fonroque estate through the main entrance and take the ‘Fonroque’ path that crosses the estate. Continue straight ahead on this same track until you turn right between the buildings. Continue until you come to a crossroads with a small road punctuated by a stone well.

14

Step 14

At the end of the road, turn right and drive to the stop sign. Finally, take the D122 (on your right) into the village of Saint-Emilion.
