Through the Puisseguin and Lussac Saint-Emilion appellations, or Castillon and Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, discover the churches and châteaux of the Lussac region.
For the more courageous, the loop is 32 km long, passing through St-Philippe d'Aiguille. You can avoid the hilly diversions via St-Philippe by heading directly to St-Cibard (point 12). The short loop is 26 km long.
The stages
From the church in Lussac, take rue Thiers. At the crossroads, turn right towards Puisseguin.
On leaving Lussac at the Renault garage, turn right towards Moulin Blanc and Moulin Noir. Continue straight on.
At the stop sign on the D244 (Château Cassat on your right), turn left and then take the 1st turning on the right.
Take the 1st right before entering Puisseguin. Go through the village of Guillotin, following the road as it forks to the left.
At the next junction after Guillotin, turn left and then immediately right into rue Jean Poitou.
At the give-way sign, turn right towards the village of Puisseguin.
Drive past Château Beauséjour and the town hall, then turn left onto Route de St Philippe. Continue straight on.
At the crossroads, leave the route de St Philippe on your right and the route de Fayan opposite, and take the one on the left (signposted 3.5t).
When you see Château de Monbadon on your left, take the road on the left at the top of the hill and head towards the château.
At the Château de Monbadon stop sign, turn left to see the church or right towards the château to continue the tour.
After the Château de Monbadon, take the 3rd turning on the right towards Terrasson and Gasquerie if you are following the long loop. For the short loop, continue straight on.
To follow the little loop, go as far as the stop sign and turn right towards St Philippe. Then take the 1st left at the bus stop. In the hamlet of Nichon, turn left and continue as far as the church of St-Cibard.
Pass Terrasson, Gasquerie and Tuillac and continue straight on to St Philippe.
You reach St Philippe via the cemetery. At the 1st crossing, continue straight on to the church.
At the church, turn left towards the village.
In the village of St Philippe, turn left and then immediately right towards Piqueroque. Go downhill and keep going straight on.
At the stop sign, turn left to Château de Clotte.
At the crossroads after Château de Clotte (on your right), turn left towards Le Pin (leaving Les Salles on your right).
Continue straight on until you reach the stop sign. At the Château Roc du Pin stop sign, turn right. Immediately after the stop sign at Le Pin, take the 1st small road on the left towards St Cibard.
In St-Cibard, at the church and pond, follow the main road towards Château de Monbadon. After St-Cibard, go straight on until you reach the Château Puyfromage stop sign. Turn right through the hamlet of Guaronneau.
At the crossroads with the Francs cooperative cellar, turn left towards Francs and climb up to the village. When you reach Francs, turn left before the town hall to see the church, or straight on to continue the loop.
After the Château de Francs, at the crossroads with the route de Puynormand, continue straight on to Tayac. Go through the village of Tayac, past the church and straight on to the stop sign on the route de Petit-Palais.
At the crossroads with the Route de Petit-Palais, continue straight ahead towards Petit-Palais.
After the hamlet of Lapourcaud, turn right towards Les Huguets. At the crossroads at Les Huguets (opposite Château Les Maines), turn right and continue to the next stop sign.
At the Cornemps stop sign, turn right to see the old abbey or left to continue the tour.
At the crossroads with the Route de Tayac, turn right onto the Route de Petit-Palais. At the chevet of the Petit-Palais church, keep to the right of the church until you reach the stop sign.
At the stop sign in Petit-Palais, turn left towards Lussac and drive past the church. After passing the porch of the Petit-Palais church, take the 1st right.
In the hamlet of Sorillon, turn left at the bus stop. At the stop sign, turn right. Before entering the undergrowth, turn left onto the road limited to 50 km/h (yellow beacon). Go through the wood.
At the Maine Blanc stop sign, take the road on the left and continue straight on to Lussac, passing through Terrien. At the stop sign at the entrance to Lussac, follow the signs for the town centre.
At the Perruchon junction (on the left), continue straight on towards Lussac. At the stop sign at the entrance to Lussac, follow the signs for the town centre. Drive past the Château de Lussac to the church. You've arrived.
