Maison-Blanche is a family estate of forty hectares in a single block.
It is set in two small valleys of clay soil, joined by a plateau, to the south-west of Montagne, in a horn that juts out between Lalande-de-Pomerol and Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion until it reaches Pomerol.
The vineyard has been learning to share its space with other living organisms from the plant and animal world ever since we became aware of the hold of a monogenic perennial mono-culture, which led us to initiate bio-dynamic farming on a few hectares in 2001, then to convert the estate to organic farming after the 2005 harvest.
Here, we cultivate the slightly offbeat joy of producing natural, sincere and authentic wines:
Natural because they are not treated in a way that goes against the laws of nature,
Sincere because we say how they are made and how they are not made,
Authentic because they are not modified, made-up or ‘improved’.
An ancestral approach that has become extremely rare!
The vines have been free of synthetic molecules (fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, etc.) since 2006,
The biodynamic grapes are picked by hand and in small crates to respect the plant and the terroir,
The juices or musts and then the wines they produce contain little (or no) sulphur and that's it (no other inputs),
Fermentation is natural (indigenous & contemporary yeasts and bacteria; no inerting or doping),
Vinification takes place without the use of technology (no artificial cold or heat, and no modification of the balance),
Ageing is traditional (no air-conditioning, manipulation, flavouring or other artificial additives),
The wines are bottled raw, whole and alive (neither fined, filtered, pasteurised or sterilised).
We bring life from the earth to the glass.
