A stone’s throw away from the impressive fortress of Monbadon, the “Château La Rose des Vents” vineyard (“Wind Rose Château”) takes its name from its location on top of a windy plateau, the second highest hill of the Aquitaine region.

Far from the big names of the Bordeaux area, this family-run boutique winery sits in the middle of a vineyard as small (3.80 ha, 9.39 acres) as it is cherished and pampered. This year, the owners invite you to discover their 2021 production, a “Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux” appellation red wine, 100% based on a merlot vine growing on the clay and limestone plateau.

As soon as you start your visit, you will be able to tell that the place is managed by a woman, as the wine cellar is painted in purple and blue, as opposed to white and red, the traditional colors in the Bordelais.

Your tasting session will include a selection of wines that are emblematic of the region.

First, your mouth embark on a sensory voyage with a taste of a fresh “pirate” white wine (“Entre-Deux-Mers” appellation). Created by a discreetly rebellious generation of winemakers (hence the “pirate” name) this wine will gently board your palate with aromas of peach and tropical fruits!

Second stopover of this journey, the house’s very own wine, La Rose des Vents, will charm you with delicate tannins and red fruits aromas.

And last but not least, you will reach your final destination with the discovery of two great wines from the neighboring Saint-Emilion “star” appellation. These two “Grand Cru”-ranked wines (issued from vineyards deemed of superior quality) will capture your senses with complex and powerful ranges of black fruits and wet earth aromas. The best possible finale for a unique moment of hedonistic grace, between ground and heavens, overlooking the world-renowned Bordeaux wine wonderland!”
